Help Support the Orange Box Choir
Orange Box young people's centre delivers a range of programmes and activities in an environment where young people of all levels of ability and backgrounds feel safe and comfortable. We give them a platform for their voices to be heard by others.
One of the ways we do this is through our Orange Box Choir. The Choir is made up of young people and staff from Orange Box, Youth Works, Project Challenge, Next Step Trust, Calderdale College and Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College.
The Choir's first performance recently at the Kirklees and Calderdale Charity Lunch (KACCL) received such a fantastic reception, with not a dry eye in the house! To enable the Choir to continue to perform at such events, we have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds to go towards transportation and uniforms.
Young people with varying abilities are in the Choir; some have never sung before, some have additional needs or come from difficult circumstances, and all are passionate about singing. The Choir is a huge confidence boost for them and creates a positive experience in an environment in which they feel safe. They have already helped raise £26,000 for two charities and are hoping to raise more for local charities by performing at local events. So, if you are interested in booking the Choir, then contact us.
Or maybe you would like to join? The Choir meet every Thursday afternoon to rehearse and are always looking for new members. So, if you are interested in joining, then contact us.
It is so important for young people to have something in their lives they can focus their energy on. It provides them with the necessary support and resources to build confidence, develop relationships and skill sets. The progress we have seen in the young people we have already worked with is clear and rewarding for them and their communities.
We would be so grateful to continue the Choir and give it a chance to grow, to inspire the talents and change the lives of young people in Calderdale. Thank you.
